The tour starts at Sun City which has South Africa's #1 golf course, extensive entertainment and a 24 hour Casino. You can stay at a game lodge in Pilanesberg instead, and still enjoy the golf and entertainment privileges at Sun City. There are different levels of accommodation at Sun City. Kruger National Park is the #1 Game Park in South Africa. It is about a five hour drive or a one hour flight. The main golfing attraction is Leopard Creek, ranked #2 in the country. There is a variety of accommodation from Private Game Lodges to Bushveld camps within the park. Guided tours in the park are recommended.

Day 1 Arrive at Johannesburg airport and transfer for short domestic flight to Pilanesberg for Sun City and three nights at The Palace.

 

Day 2 Play Lost City Golf Course, a Gary Player masterpiece of desert golf with a Crocodile filled hazard at the 13th which could be said to be 'out of bounds'. Non Golfers: At leisure in Sun City

 

Day 3 Play Gary Player Country Club, South Africa’s #1 course that hosts the annual ‘Million Dollar Challenge’. Water comes into play on five holes, most famously on the par-five 9th with its island green surrounded by waterfalls and artificial rocks.. Non Golfers: Visit Pilanesburg Game Park.

 

Day 4 Play Pecanwood Golf and Country Club, a highly rated Jack Nicklaus design located on the southern shore of Hartbeespoorte Dam, overlooking Magaliesburg Mountains.
Non golfers
can visit the ‘Cradle of Humanity’ World Heritage Site nearby or explore the interesting city of Pretoria.
Drive to Buhala Game Lodge at Melelane, adjacent to Kruger National Park for 4 nights.

 

Day 5 Full day for group to visit Kruger National Park

 

Day 6 Play Leopard Creek, a course that blends into the Game Park surrounding it. Sightings of crocodile, hippo, antelope, buffalo and wild boar are commonplace, either on the course itself or in or next to the Crocodile River running alongside several of its spectacular holes. Non Golfers: Explore more of Kruger.

 

Day 7 Play Sabie River at Hazyview, here you know you are in big game country with hippos and crocodiles permanent residents in the course’s main dam, next to the 14th and 15th holes. Non Golfers: Visit the Blythe River Canyon area and Pilgrims Rest, an early golf mining settlement.

 

Day 8 Drive to Johannesburg airport for flight home. (Option, play golf at White River or Nelspruit on route, flight times permitting).

The Palace of The Lost City

Fabled to be the royal residence of an ancient king, is possibly the most extraordinary hotel in the world. It's built in colonial style under thatch, and elegantly furnished. It is fenced into the Kruger National Park, overlooking the Crocodile River where hippos and crocodiles look on lazily as game of many species from the Kruger Park come down for a drink. Guests have access to Leopard Creek Golf Club, just 15 minutes drive. Game viewing from the shade of the extensive veranda provides its own enchantment. Sit there and listen to the heartbeat of Africa, or laze in the pool and watch the animals come down to the river to drink or have a bath. Revel in the magnificent bird life; over 200 species have been recorded. Bee eaters, rollers, fish eagles, weavers, louries, kingfishers of numerous varieties, green pigeons, owls, swallows and swifts, bul buls, drongos, even parrot species are regularly seen from the poolside.

Activities with a qualified ranger/guide include walks in the Kruger Park, as well as day and night safaris with qualified guides on open vehicles or in kombis, with the option of a bushveld barbeque or candle lit dinner. Also bird watching trails, horse riding, clay pigeon shooting, California bass and tiger fishing, a visit to a rhino ranch, cultural village, crocodile farm or try your hand at gold panning.

Luxurious accommodation is provided in eight elegant en-suite double/twin rooms, each with full bath and separate shower, and is complemented by superb cuisine and a well stocked wine cellar. There are 2 new garden suites overlooking the river which share a splash pool.
