Arrive Glasgow Airport, met by AGS Representative, collect auto or meet your private driver/guide. Stay 3 nights Piersland Hotel Troon. |
| Day 2 |
Play Prestwick golf course, an interesting historical example of the type of golfing terrain the first British Open champions had to play over. The most famous challenge is the long 3rd, known as the Cardinal. |
| Day 3 |
Play Royal Troon Old, this well known British Open Championship venue has a formidable appearance but is mellowed by such delights as the 126 yard 8th hole, the postage stamp, the shortest hole in Open golf. Green fee includes lunch and complimentary round on Portland course. |
| Day 4 |
Play Western Gailes, an attractive course with many greens tucked away in hollows, as if the design had been undertaken by nature. It is one of the finest courses in Scotland, not only a trial of skill and strength, but also something of an endurance test.
To Scores Hotel, St. Andrews stay 4 nights. |
| Day 5 |
Play St. Andrews New Course, it has always been overshadowed by the Old Course but it is now getting more recognition and was recently ranked #12 in Scotland the top 100 courses in UK and Ireland. |
| Day 6 |
Play St. Andrews Old, famous as the ‘Home of Golf’ this 600-year-old golf course is still a formidable challenge. The course is known for its 112 bunkers, some of which are especially famous e.g. 'Hell' on the long 14th, 'Strath' on the short 11th and the Road Bunker at what is probably the most famous golf hole in the world, the 17th or Road Hole Another peculiar feature of the Old Course is the double greens where the outward and inward holes are cut on the same putting surface. |
| Day 7 |
Play Carnoustie, one of the most difficult Open Championship courses in Britain. The treacherous Barry Burn is a hazard that lost the Open for Jean Van de Velde. |

Hotels in Itinerary
Piersland Hotel, Troon — is across road from Royal Troon, a hotel retaining its original country house character. The house was built in 1899 by William Leiper, as the home for Sir Alexander Walker, grandson of Johnnie Walker, founder of the Scottish Whisky firm Johnnie Walker. The Restaurant offers fine cuisine within an atmosphere of warmth and intimacy. Rooms have modern facilities but retain original charm. Facilities include tea/coffee making, satellite TV, mini bar and night porter services.
Scores Hotel — Situated only yards from the first tee of the Old Course at St. Andrews, the Scores Hotel commands magnificent views of St. Andrews Bay and the historic clubhouse of the Royal and Ancient. Adjacent is the British Golf Museum while the town of St. Andrews, which represents a veritable treasure trove of one thousand years of Scottish heritage, is just a short walk away. The hotel occupies two former fashionable townhouses, which date back to 1880, giving guests a palpable sense of history and tradition. Each of the Scores Hotel’s 30 bedrooms is en-suite and offers a full range of modern facilities.
Many guestrooms have panoramic sea views, while others command views over the hotel gardens. A choice of bars includes the aptly named Scorecard Bar, which is adorned with golfing memorabilia including a collection of cards from championships played over the Old Course by some of the game’s legends. Though a selection of fresh local seafood, for which the East Neuk of Fife is renowned, features strongly in the award winning Alexander’s Restaurant, the menus offer a wide range of traditional Scottish and international cuisine. The coffee shop provides an excellent course-side vantage point; it serves breakfast and snacks throughout the day. |
