Le Meridien Penina Golf and Resort is situated on Portugal's spectacular southern coast between the traditional fishing port of Portimão and the historic town of Lagos. Portimão features warm seawater beaches and majestic rock formations. Alvor, a city just minutes away from the hotel, offers quaint shops, beautiful 16th century parish churches, and a popular casino. Further sporting facilities include six floodlit tennis courts. There is a jogging circuit with 12 exercise stations for individual and family runs that is free of charge for guests. A fully equipped gymnasium is free of charge for guests and a full-size snooker table is available free of charge for guests over 18 years of age. Mountain bikes are available all year round for rides within the resort. At the Archery Academy lessons can be booked.

Water sports are available from June to September, and the Beach Club offers windsurfing, sailing, pedaloes, waterskiing, sunbeds, towel service and a restaurant. There is a free shuttle service to and from the beach throughout the season. The outdoor swimming pool is free for residents and includes sunbeds and a towel service.

Penguin Village - offers a range of children’s activities including an adventure play area, swimming pool and slide, crèche, toys, arts and crafts materials and a Penguin Mac Restaurant, which is open during Penguin Village opening times. Bicycles, film shows and a bouncy castle are further facilities for children. Open Easter to 31st October / Christmas from 930 am to 600 pm and during July and August from 930 am to 900 pm, seven days a week.

Penina Championship Course was designed by Sir Henry Cotton and is considered a masterpiece by many experts. It has hosted the Portuguese Open on a number of occasions. A mixture of trees, well-placed water hazards, and notable length makes it a good test requiring accuracy and course management skills. Two of the great holes are the dogleg fifth with its canal, lake, and contoured green and the alarming 13th, shadowed by water from tee to green. The sequence of holes is unusual, the front nine only has one par 5 – but the back nine four par 5’s. The outward nine is a par 35 – the back nine par 38. It is a classic design in a tranquil setting and the course abounds with wildlife. (6500 metres, Par: 73)
