Golf Vacations England
Royal Golf Tours in East

To discuss custom golf tours call now on 1-888-529-2448.
This two-location golf vacation starts northeast of London on the North Norfolk coast where there is a fine collection of traditional seaside and cliff top links. Many of the best courses in the UK have been favorites with Royal golfers over the years and have been granted a Royal title. On this tour you can play all titled courses but in Norfolk we suggest a couple of variations. The second location is Canterbury, southeast of London. From here you can play three traditional links courses all of which have staged British Open Championships, including Royal St George’s which was the venue for the 2003 Open.

Golf Courses
Royal St George’s, Sandwich
One of the most famous courses in the UK, it has hosted British Open Championships and was the venue for the 2003 Open. The course was laid out in 1886 and has changed very little. It is a difficult links course and is unusual in that the club prefers 2 ball golf, playing foursomes or singles so that a round typically takes no more than 3 hours. Three and four ball games are not allowed. 18 holes, 6565 yards, par 72.
Prince’s, Sandwich
The club enjoys a worldwide reputation as a traditional links of fine quality. It has been a venue for the British Open Championship and the Curtis Cup. The club holds a series of Open tournaments for amateur players each year.27 holes. Dunes 9 holes 3343, par 36. Himalayas 9 holes, 3321 yards, par 35. Shore 9 holes, 3455 yards, par 36.
Royal Cinque Ports, Deal
A famous seaside links that is often windy but easy walking. The club has staged many championships including the British Open Championship in 1909 and 1920 and the Amateur Championship in 1978. There are fine views across the English Channel.18 holes, 6785 yards, par 72.
Royal Cromer
Situated between the seaside towns of Cromer and Over strand on the north east corner of Norfolk and jutting out into the North Sea, Royal Cromer Golf Club stands some 320 feet above Cromer's beautiful sandy beaches. Designed by Tom Morris, improved by J H Taylor and James Braid, the present Frank Pennick design is constructed out of hummocky, sandy hills covered with gorse and bracken and seamed with grassy valleys. The Club was granted its Royal patronage by HRH Edward Prince of Wales on Christmas Day 1887, the formal opening taking place on 2nd January 1888. 18 holes, 6508 yards, par 72.
Hunstanton
The club was formed in 1891 and is a natural seaside links, generally considered the best in East Anglia. It has been the venue for many tournaments of importance. The greens are fast and there are numerous bunkers, playing conditions are good all year round but wind often makes the course very difficult. 18 holes, 6735 yards, par 72.
Royal West Norfolk, Brancaster
The course was laid out in 1892 and it has changed very little since then except that the sea has claimed 2 holes in 1939 and 1940 when the members presumably had other priorities. The clubhouse and course are very traditional. The course is close by the sea and quite testing, it is characterized by bunkers lined with huge wooden sleepers, salt marshes to cross, huge sand hills and a quiet restful beauty. 18 holes, 6428 yards, par 71.
Royal Worlington and Newmarket
This is a nine-hole course and often described as the best 9 hole course in Britain. The greens are keen and fast. The fifth is a famous par 3 of 157 yards but it is very difficult to stay on the narrow green, let alone near the hole. 9 holes, 3105 yards, par 35.
Sheringham
Set on the cliffs in an area of outstanding natural beauty, Sheringham is a challenging course for all golfers at all times of the year and has been the venue for several English Ladies' Championships. Being close to the shore the course can be very windswept. There is plenty of gorse and excellent seaside turf and the course is one of the most picturesque in the region. The club celebrated its centenary in 1991.
Sightseeing

The best of Kent’s Castles and Historic Houses
Leeds Castle was one of Henry 8th’s palaces, Built in the middle of a lake and surrounded by 500 acres of parkland, this is the epitome of the romantic medieval castle and has been described as ‘the loveliest castle in the world’. The first owner, a man named Leed or Ledian built himself a wooden castle here in AD 857, the Normans rebuilt it, and then Edward 1st , it was extensively altered in the Tudor period. In the 19th century it was again restored and many of the rooms are open to the public, all lavishly decorated with a superb collection of art and furniture.
Hever Castle is not really a castle, but is a double moated manor house located in the northwest corner of Kent. It was the childhood home of Ann Boleyn, second wife of Henry 8th and mother of Queen Elizabeth 1st. Later Henry 8th gave the estate to his third wife Ann of Cleves. 350 years later the American multi-millionaire William Waldorf Astor rescued Hever from decline and tastefully created the romantically beautiful house and grounds of today.
Suffolk Painters
Gainsborough’s House at Sudbury in Suffolk is the birthplace of Thomas Gainsborough RA (1727-88). It is a Georgian fronted town house with a walled garden and displays more of the artists work than any other gallery.
Flatford Mill, Constable Country.

Start at Bridge Cottage which is owned by the National Trust, it is a 16th-century thatched cottage, just upstream from Flatford Mill and housing an exhibition on John Constable, several of whose paintings famously depict this property. There is a tea-garden, shop, information centre and boat hire, and access is possible on foot to Trust land in the beautiful Dedham Vale. It is possible to identify the places from where some of the pictures were painted.
Cambridge and Newmarket
Cambridge is an idyllic, tranquil university city, quite different from bustling Oxford. The oldest college Peterhouse was founded in 1284. The most beautiful is King’s, best seen from a boat on the river. Queens, Trinity, Clare, Magdalen St John’s, Jesus and Emmanuel are all interesting. Visitors may walk in the courtyards, chapels and sometimes gardens or preferably take a guided tour. Newmarket, nearby , is the capital of English horse-racing and breeding and many valuable horses are exercised on Newmarket Heath. In the main street, next to the Jockey Club, the National Horseracing Museum is well worth a visit.

Sandringham was built in 1870 by the Prince and Princess of Wales, who were later King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra. It has been passed down as a private home through four generations of British monarchs and is now the country retreat of Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh. The main ground floor rooms, regularly used by the Royal Family, are open to the public and the decor and contents remain very much as they were in Edwardian times. There are knowledgeable guides in every room ready to talk to visitors. There is an interesting Museum and a large Country Park to explore.
